In hot forging, a heated billet is pressed between dies in a die set to a close to finished product. This process sees large numbers of solid metal parts produced in aluminium alloys, copper alloys, steel or super-alloys where irregular shapes need to be combined with good mechanical properties.

Formvar is ASSAB’s new addition to its forging tool steel range. It is a significant upgrade from the market’s traditional H13 and H11 forging tools offering good tempering back resistance, hot yield strength and increased tool life.
