Fine Blanking

Fine blanking technology was initially used in the watch and clock industry but today its usage is commonly found in the automotive industry.

In a car, fine blanking is employed to guarantee that critical parts which cannot go wrong – such as the safety belt, the brake system or the airbag – are in working tiptop condition. Consequently, fine blanking plays a major role in the safety of our daily lives.

The demands on the tool steel are therefore enormous and often close to its limits. Choosing right tool steel reduces maintenance cost and avoids production downtime resulting in higher productivity overall.

Benefit from the excellent combination of high chipping resistance and compressive strength through the best grades in the ASSAB range comprising ASSAB 88, Caldie, Vanadis 4 Extra Superclean and Vanadis 8 Superclean.
