ABP - Solution for Surface
ABP is a shot peening process which introduces compressive stress to the surface of material. As the demand for improved tooling economy and productivity increases continuously ASSAB developed ABP. ASSAB tool steel with ABP will provide key benefits like reduced thermal fatigue and heat checking, reduced wear, reduced stress crack. With ABP we expect die life to increase by 30-40%.

ASSAB Coating Technology
PVD coating has been added to the ASSAB service portfolio. We use the latest PVD technology transferred by our group company Eifeler, a world leading coating company. Surface treatment, like PVD coating can improve the surface hardness without losing the properties of the substrate. With tailored coatings, the hardness, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and tribological properties can be modified to resist different surface failures. As a result, these types of surface treatments are widely used in advanced tooling technology.
